Move from evaluation to a pilot quantity
Low-volume fabrication connects an evaluated design with the next manufacturing quantity. Confirm whether the pilot uses the original prototype construction or an updated material, stackup or finish.
Define panels and identification
State whether you need individual boards or panels. Include panel drawings where applicable, along with marking, part number and revision requirements. Quantities should distinguish individual boards from production panels.
Make repeat orders explicit
Reference the earlier order, confirm the revision and state what has changed. Materials, quantities, inspection requirements and delivery arrangements should be checked rather than assumed from the previous build.
Low-volume planning priorities
A pilot build can connect engineering validation with later production. Keep revision status, test requirements and approved substitutions explicit so findings can inform the next order.
Make quotations comparable
Compare quotations against the same board specification and deliverables. A lower total based on a different material, finish, copper construction or verification scope is not a like-for-like comparison.
| Quotation item | Confirm before release |
|---|---|
| Design basis | File revision, stackup and approved engineering clarifications. |
| Board construction | Material, copper, thickness, finish and mechanical features. |
| Verification | Electrical testing, special measurements and required reports. |
| Order scope | Quantity, tooling assumptions, destination and delivery basis. |
Changes between quotation and manufacture
Identify any revised files or requirements before the order is released. A change in material, construction, quantity or test scope may require the quotation and schedule to be reviewed. Do not combine a new artwork revision with an older drawing without explaining the differences.
Questions, answered
Before your next build
What can delay a low-volume order?
Incomplete files, conflicting specifications, unresolved material choices and unapproved engineering questions can delay release. Confirm the final fabrication package and delivery basis before manufacture.
