Manufacturing overview
Rigid boards provide a fixed mechanical platform for circuit interconnections. Define board thickness, copper distribution, drilled features and outline tolerances as part of the manufacturing package.
Materials and finish
State the required laminate grade or permitted alternatives. Select the surface finish for the application and identify any selective-finish areas on the fabrication drawing.
Holes and mechanical features
Distinguish drilled dimensions from finished-hole requirements. Mark plated and non-plated holes, slots, cutouts and edge features. Hole diameter, board thickness and plating requirements must be reviewed together.
Rigid PCB construction choices
Rigid PCBs provide a mechanically stable platform for the circuit. A single-sided or double-sided design and a multilayer design differ in routing capacity and construction. Select the architecture against connectivity, board space, electrical requirements and assembly constraints.
| Construction | Review focus |
|---|---|
| Single or double sided | Routing space, hole requirements and mechanical constraints. |
| Multilayer | Layer order, reference planes, dielectric thickness and interconnections. |
| Special requirements | Impedance, heavier copper, edge features and acceptance records. |
What to include in your quotation request
Provide the fabrication package and drawing at one revision. Distinguish fixed requirements from items open to engineering proposals. Include quantity and the required ship or arrival date; the material, construction and verification scope must be reviewed before the delivery plan is confirmed.
- Fabrication artwork, drill data and mechanical outline.
- Stackup, material grades and finished copper requirements.
- Surface finish, critical tolerances and special features.
- Required inspection, test conditions and documentation.
- Quantity, project stage, destination and date requirement.
