What is a Rogers PCB?
A Rogers PCB uses one or more circuit materials manufactured by Rogers Corporation. The material name identifies part of the stackup, not a guaranteed level of finished-circuit performance. RF and microwave projects may evaluate these materials for dielectric behavior, loss, phase consistency and dimensional requirements.
Specify the grade, not only the brand
Rogers includes different laminate families and material constructions. Examples include the RO4000, RO3000, RT/duroid and TMM families. They should not be treated as interchangeable, and not every Rogers laminate is PTFE-based. Grade-specific data and manufacturing requirements govern the selection.
Read dielectric properties in context
Compare dielectric constant and dissipation factor with their stated measurement conditions. The relevant frequency, test method, construction and design assumptions matter. A catalogue number alone does not define a transmission line or the loss of a completed RF channel.
RF laminate and hybrid construction
A hybrid board can combine RF materials with other laminate systems. This can place different electrical functions in one stackup, but the dielectric interfaces, bonding system and fabrication requirements must be reviewed together. Identify exactly which layers require the specified RF material.
RF material quotation checklist
Give the fabricator a complete construction and a clear approval basis.
- Exact laminate grade and approved substitutions, if any.
- Dielectric thicknesses, copper foil requirements and layer order.
- Bonding materials and hybrid interfaces.
- Controlled impedance targets, trace layers and reference planes.
- Operating frequency requirements and critical mechanical features.
- Required verification, reports, quantity and delivery target.

Before your next build
Are all Rogers laminates PTFE-based?
No. Rogers offers multiple material families with different constructions. Specify the exact grade and review its data and manufacturing requirements.
